SUVs are all the rage these days, and as new cars become rich with technology, prices continue to climb. The average cost of a brand-new car floats around $48,000, and experts predict that most cars—if meticulously maintained—will last just over 11 years.

So, which SUVs are the best value for the cost, are cheap to maintain, and promise to last longer than 10 years? Of course, the answer is easy: anything Japanese. However, GoBankingRates took it a step further by calculating the average annual cost of the most popular, reportedly reliable SUVs.

The outlet says most new cars tend to typically cost $4,200 per year in fuel, maintenance, and upkeep. The SUVs they listed tend to cost less than that, and last longer than the predicted 11 years.

The first on the list was the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, which cost an average of $28,250, lasted 11,8 years, and cost a meager $2,400 per year.

Okay, so what about the other SUVs listed?

Then Honda predictably is on the list, with the CR-V. The typical list price is around $36,009 and is predicted to last an outstanding 15 years. The average cost per year to the owner is just $1 more than the Outlander.

Ford is one of two American car companies on the list, represented by the Edge SUV. The average price is around $42,590 and tends to cost $3,533 every year. Incredibly, the outlet says it’ll last just over 12 years. Very Toyota-like.

Stellantis is the second American company listed, with the Jeep Wrangler. It’s one of the more expensive SUVs with an average price of $56,252. Despite the stereotypes, proper maintenance can keep it running for 14.4 years, with an average upkeep cost of $3,894.

Nissan made the list with the Murano, as well as the Honda Pilot, and Infiniti QX60.

Now for the Toyota runner-ups

The small but mighty RAV4 is the third on the list overall, with a relatively low average cost of $35,258. Keeping up the company’s reputation for longevity, the predicted lifespan is around 14.6 years, with a low annual cost of $2,411.

The Highlander is the next best choice, with a moderate average price of $48,481, an average annual cost of $3,489, and an expected lifespan of 13.9. Amazingly, the Toyota 4Runner comes just after the Highlander, with a relatively high average price of $52,056 and a higher annual upkeep cost of $3,557. It has a long life ahead of it, though, with a predicted span of 14.6 years.

The Highlander Hybrid is the fourth Toyota named, with a typical cost of $52,565. Experts predict it’ll last just under 14 years, and cost owners around $3,773 per year.

Two Lexuses were named, too—the RX 350 and RX 350h. The standard SUV tends to cost around $57,838, lasts just under 15 years, and costs around $3,892 annually. The hybrid version is obviously a little pricier with an average cost of $60,857, lasts around 15.7 years (the longest of any other SUV listed), and costs about the same (if anything, marginally less) than the standard RX 350.
