Millions of people purchase vehicles each year, and a substantial number of them leave the dealership with an SUV. However, many agree that some of the top SUVs in terms of popularity may not be the best to buy. One car-buying expert, named Delivrd, recently took to his social media platform to reveal five severely overrated options. 

Honorable mention: Toyota RAV4

The Toyota RAV4 is considered one of the top SUVs. However, Delivrd included it on his list of the most overrated as an honorable mention. He says that, although the 2025 Toyota RAV4 is the definition of overrated, it remains one of the best SUVs to buy in its class. Still, the car-buying expert goes on to say it only does one thing “very well,” which is reliability. Unfortunately, he feels it’s a bland SUV in all other regards- looks, driving experience, etc. 

5) Buick as a whole

Buick has made some of the top SUVs of all time. However, Delivrd included the brand as a whole on his list of the most overrated options going into 2025. Specifically, he says that the issue is that the company has “lost its identity.” In many cases, the build quality of Buick vehicles falls short of that of its rivals, and many also feel that the company has become outdated. 

4) Mazda CX-70

Mazda also makes some of the top SUVs in terms of popularity and overall quality. Still, the CX-70 is also on the list of the most overrated options. He says he included it here because it is somewhat similar to the Mazda CX-90. The most significant difference appears to be the absence of third-row seating. Still, it’s an overall solid SUV, but it seems to be a lazy attempt from Mazda. 

3) The Jeep Wrangler is one of the top SUVs, but it may also be overrated

There’s no denying that the Jeep Wrangler is one of the top SUVs of all time. When it comes to this one, Delivrd admits that people who own Wranglers love them. This doesn’t mean they’re perfect. He says it’s not a practical SUV, nor is it one of the options known for safety. Additionally, the Jeep Wrangler is not a reliable vehicle. 

2) Audi Q5 is also ‘overrated’ for being one of the top SUVs

The Audi Q5 is another of the top SUVs, and this is the case in several regards. However, this car-buying expert says the issue is that Audi doesn’t do anything better than its closest rivals- Mercedes and BMW. This is the case when it comes to performance, technology, and interior quality. He also says it doesn’t provide the best value. 

1) The most overrated is the Lexus GX 550

Most people agree that Lexus makes some of the best luxury cars. However, the iconic Lexus GX 550 made this list. According to Delivrd, the problem with the GX 550 is that the interior is underwhelming despite having a striking exterior. He goes on to say that the Land Cruiser is a better option for those seeking this type of vehicle.
