Top 10 cars police pull over most often in 2025
Every day, roughly 50,000 drivers in the U.S. get to experience to pleasure of an unplanned roadside chat with a police officer. Over a year, that adds up to more than 20 million stops. And while bad behavior behind the wheel is usually to blame, the kind of car you drive might also have something to do with it.
American Auto Insurance published an analysis in March detailing the 10 vehicles most likely to attract red-and-blue lights in the rearview. Surprisingly, high-end supercars aren’t topping the list. Instead, it’s the feisty, affordable performance models that seem to have a target on their backs.
Here’s the top 10 most pulled-over cars in 2025:
- Subaru WRX
- Hyundai Genesis Coupe
- KIA Stinger
- Dodge Challenger
- Nissan 370Z
- INFINITI G37
- Mitsubishi Lancer
- Scion FR-S
- Audi A3
- Mini Cooper
The report suggests several reasons why these particular cars are police magnets
Price is one factor. Most of these vehicles are budget-friendly sports cars, and that affordability tends to attract younger drivers. Statistically, drivers between 18 and 24 get pulled over the most. That’s a group not exactly known for cautious, slow-lane cruising.
Vehicle condition plays a role too. These cars are among the most heavily modified on the road. Think dark tint, loud exhausts, flashy spoilers, and body kits held together with zip ties and hope. Any of that can make a car stand out to officers.
Color matters too, but not how you might think. It’s not the classic “red car gets all the tickets” myth. White cars are pulled over the most, but that’s likely because they make up about 35% of all vehicles on U.S. roads.
Still, the car is only part of the equation. Speeding remains the top reason people get stopped, accounting for nearly half of all traffic stops. Other common violations include improper lane changes, tailgating, illegal cell phone use, and faulty equipment like broken lights or cracked windshields.
In the end, driving style, not just vehicle model, is what gets most people into trouble
Whether you’re in a WRX or a station wagon, staying alert and obeying the rules can save you money, points on your license, and an awkward roadside conversation.
