‘Your sign to buy something else no matter how good they look’ TikToker with 4.2M followers bought a Chevy Tahoe. Now she wants to de-influence it

It's been one to many tows for this owner.

“Second time in a week that it goes back to the shop.” Tasia Alexis reports to her fans while filming her slick-looking Chevrolet Tahoe SUV getting dragged up onto a flatbed tow truck and hauled away.

Pause: Who’s Tasia Alexis, and why does she have so many social media followers?

Tasia Alexis Hussey is a social media personality who gained teenage fame on Vine with her quick, funny videos. She posted skits with her dad that caught on with millions of viewers. After Vine shut down, she built a large following on Instagram and TikTok.

Her content combines humor, personal stories, and her life as a young mom. She’s known for being relatable and unfiltered. Over the years, she has shared her struggles with addiction, legal issues, and recovery, which helped her connect more deeply with fans. Today, Tasia has millions of followers on TikTok alone, not to mention Insta.

Now, back to her cursed Chevy Tahoe

I couldn’t figure out exactly what year hers is, but I’m assuming it’s a 2021 to 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe with GM’s 6.2L L87 V8 engine.

Why assume? Because these models spell Trouble with a capital “T.”

GM’s 6.2L L87 V8 engine problems…and more!

Many 2021 to 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe owners report major issues. Engine problems top the list.

In fact, earlier this year, GM issued a stop-sale and recall of anything with an L87.

Valve lifters and pushrods often fail. Failures can happen before 10,000 miles and lead to engine knocking, misfires, or sudden shutdowns.

Aside from L87 woes, owners of this Tahoe year range complain of other problems, too. The NHTSA lists 15 (!) major system recalls for the 2021 model year alone.

To start, diesel versions face fuel injection pump failures and poor build quality. Electrical problems aren’t uncommon. Frustrated Tahoe owners also report faulty airbags, bad fuel pumps, and failing control modules.

The push-button gearshift frustrates many drivers. Some worry children could accidentally shift gears.

A few owners also mention fast brake wear, peeling paint, and cramped trunk space when the third row is up.

All told, seems to me like Tasia’s Tahoe version could very well fall into this group.

The comments confirm Tahoe and GM L87 engine problems

I’ll admit, plenty of followers post that they love their Tahoe and haven’t suffered from the above reliability issues. Still, those familiar with the troublesome L87 engine and other problems came to confirm.

“They have a recall… happened to my cousin Yukon too!”

“Who in they right mind suggested that you get a Chevy? -Signed a gurl who drives a Honda”

“This makes me sad cuz this was literally my next purchase!” one remarked. “Consider this a gift,” another follower replied. Tasia “liked” that response.

“I’m never buying a Chevy again. Not to mention the horrible customer service at the dealership.”

“thank you for deinfluencing me,” the top comment says. Tasia personally “liked” that one, too.

My only qualm is that she ditched the Tahoe for a Beemer

Guess she doesn’t miss the mechanic all that much.
