54-year-old Texas man is behind bars after kidnapping a woman and running from police in a van
There are many reasons why a high-speed police chase might happen. Often, it’s the result of a person trying to run from a traffic stop because they know they’ve broken the law. Recently, police officers in Texas received word of a kidnapping, and the suspect refused to pull over once they spotted him. This was after he held the victim for several days.
Here’s what happened.
He committed kidnapping, evaded a traffic stop, and put many people at risk
According to Fox 4 News, police officers in White Settlement, Texas, recently got a call from a local Walmart about a kidnapping. It was the victim herself who called while inside the store. Of course, she gave them identifying information about the vehicle, and the police later tried to make a traffic stop to rescue her. Sadly, the suspect, Reginald Jameson, 52, refused to pull over and caused a chase.
The driver broke several road laws while trying to evade the traffic stop. This includes running red lights and even crashing into another van. A police officer from the area had this to say, “That didn’t stop him, of course, because he doesn’t care what he’s doing. He’s trying to get away. He gets out of the van after the crash, starts running on foot.”
The man continued to try to escape the traffic stop by running through restaurants and even climbing a fence. In the end, the police on the scene used a stun gun on the man and placed him under arrest. This happened on December 13th; he had held the woman since Sunday. Luckily, she was not hurt. The suspect’s charges include kidnapping, evading arrest, and assault family violence.
