Texas K9 officer catches truck thief as victim is ejected from bed
Good news, a Texan police officer who doubles as the goodest boy stopped a truck thief from getting away. But during the incident, the victim was thrown from the pickup’s bed, and another driver was injured.
Texas K9 officer bites truck thief
Police officers immediately jumped into action around 6 AM to respond to reports of a stolen vehicle around 6 AM. Upon spotting the stolen truck in Duncanville, Texas, they tried to initiate a traffic stop.
However, the thief sped off, hitting speeds around 80 mph. This caused a brief police chase to ensue. But the driver crashed at the intersection of S Westmoreland and W. Ledbetter.
The victim was riding in the bed and was ejected during the crash. Then the driver hopped out and ran from the scene. He didn’t get very far because a K9 officer named Jack was on his scent.
Jack bit the suspect, and his handler, Officer Hankins, took the suspect into custody. According to Fox 4 News, he was taken to the hospital to treat the dog bite.
The man who flew out of the pickup’s bed was also taken to the hospital with injuries. However, police officers are baffled. It’s unclear why he was in the back of the vehicle or how he got there. He may have already been in the back when the vehicle was stolen.
Also, a third person was injured during the wreck and needed to be taken to the hospital. I don’t have an update about their condition. Hopefully, Jack was rewarded with extra treats and belly rubs for doing a great job.
