An SUV crashed into a Starbucks, sending a 70-year-old woman flying
Nothing wakes you up like coffee unless an SUV suddenly crashes through a wall and sends you flying. A 70-year-old woman was having a peaceful morning at Starbucks until she was hit in the cafe by a Ford Edge.
70-year-old woman gets hit by an SUV inside a Starbucks
Everything seemed normal inside a Starbucks in Silverdale, Washington, until a red Ford SUV crashed through the wall. The incident occurred at 12:30 PM as patrons enjoyed their caffeinated beverages.
A 70-year-old woman told police officers that the Ford Edge knocked her out of her chair during the incident. Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue evaluated her at the scene. Then she drove herself to the hospital for further care.
An 81-year-old woman was driving the SUV. She explained that she had no idea what happened as she was pulling into a handicapped parking space outside of the store.
Luckily she wasn’t hurt. Perhaps she needed some coffee to perk up a little. It’s unclear if the woman was cited for the crash. Also, it doesn’t seem like she was driving under the influence.

Despite having a massive hole in the wall, surrounded by shattered glass, the Starbucks is currently still open. It’s operating under normal hours, and patrons are being asked to use the entrance on the south side of the store. Although, I assume some cleanup took place.
According to Komo News, an ongoing investigation is working to determine the cause of the accident. This is why the names of the driver and the victim haven’t been released.
Insurance may cover the damage if the 81-year-old woman has property damage liability insurance. But she could be responsible for reimbursing the owner. A lot of paperwork will be involved in filing the claim. That sounds like a headache that coffee might help with.
