Street takeover criminals in Florida bully a car with a baby on board
Street takeovers are a serious threat to public safety. Tragically, illegal takeovers can cause serious injuries and prevent emergency services from helping people. In a recent Florida street takeover, criminals attacked a vehicle in the middle of the street. Worse yet, the target of the indiscriminate violence was a mother and her baby.
A street takeover showed just how ugly people can be as participants damaged a car containing a mother and her child
Street takeovers aren’t a new thing. For decades, people in performance cars have blocked avenues and intersections to smoke their tires, race, drift, and perform brazen stunts. It’s a spectacle, for sure. However, a street takeover can go from tame to entirely out of control in moments.
Unfortunately, potentially deadly takeovers are somewhat common today. In a recent Florida event, participants locked down a large intersection in Orange County. Sadly, the rapidly developing takeover trapped a passerby in her car. Criminals descended on the vehicle, pounding, striking, and jumping on it. The woman inside attempted to reason with the attackers., In social media videos, viewers can see the woman pleading, “There’s a baby in the car!”
Another unlucky victim, this time a Tesla driver, claimed that criminals jumped on his vehicle and broke his windshield with kicks. Fortunately, authorities didn’t report any injuries from the unruly takeover, per the New York Post. However, participants managed to cause around $60,000 in damages.
Understandably, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the participants hoping to press charges. “This reckless and violent behavior poses a serious danger to our community and we are committed to holding those responsible accountable,” the sheriff’s office said in a social media post.
So, how can you stay safe? For starters, you should remain vigilant. Never attempt to drive through a large disturbance on public streets. Be prepared to find and take an alternate route. Getting to your destination sooner isn’t worth the risk of injury and damage from driving through a street takeover.
