Washington man steals fire truck for joyride and hits multiple cars
Sometimes criminals find themselves in the right place at the right time to commit a crime. While firefighters were responding to an emergency, one Washington man noticed their rig was left unattended. So he quickly stole a fire truck and caused multiple accidents.
Washington man steals fire truck for destructive joyride
Police officers in Everett, Washington, are looking for a suspect who stole a fire truck for a wildly destructive joyride. He stole the truck while emergency responders were distracted.
Emergency crews were helping someone on the fifth floor of an apartment building when the suspect jumped in the unoccupied vehicle at the corner of Hoyt and Hewitt Avenues.
He floored it in the rig, and immediately slammed into two cars parked down the street. Then he aggressively sped through random neighborhoods, hitting dozens of parked cars. According to My North West, the driver also tore up multiple lawns.
Emergency responders didn’t even know the truck was missing until they came out of the apartment building and reports of hit-and-run accidents started flowing in.
Luckily, no one was injured during the high-speed rampage. Multiple people called 911 to report hit and runs and reckless driving. Eventually, the driver abandoned the fire engine on Marine View Dr.
But the suspect seemingly vanished into thin air because police officers couldn’t find him. They established a containment area and deployed K-9 units without any luck.
The stolen fire engine was severely damaged from multiple collisions. It has been placed out of service and has been impounded as evidence.
Police officers are continuing an ongoing investigation to find the person responsible for all the destruction. If you have any related information, please contact the Everett Police Department.
