Scrooge is making an early appearance this year by stealing food from the poor. A box truck filled with frozen turkeys was taken from a nonprofit. The 500 turkeys were supposed to be handed out to families in need. 

California thieves steal a box truck with over 500 frozen turkeys 

This story is nothing to gobble over. A nonprofit organization in Lake Elsinore, California, is missing over 500 frozen turkeys that were going to be provided to families in need. They were in the back of a box truck that thieves got away with. 

Police officers responded to reports of a stolen vehicle at the 31000 block of Auto Center Drive. Despite searching the area, the vehicle hasn’t been recovered. 

Officials with the U.R. The Important Foundation shared that the vehicle was stolen while members were sorting food to donate. The director of the organization stepped away for a break. When they returned, the vehicle had vanished. 

According to CBS News, the suspects were caught on security camera footage. However, the investigation is still ongoing. Investigators are still hoping to make a break in the case. The community is urged to provide any information that could help recover the truck and turkeys. 

Many members of the community have been supportive, despite not receiving turkeys for their Thanksgiving meal. An anonymous donor has replaced 200 of the turkeys, but that’s simply not enough for everyone. 

Many thieves take advantage of opportunities. Never leave a vehicle unattended or unlocked. People can steal cars in 30 seconds or less.
