Wisconsin trucker wants his semi-truck back after fatal crash

Eight months is an extremely long time to go without a semi-truck if you’re a truck driver. Eric Hafer doesn’t know why his rig is still sitting in an impound lot.

It was towed after he was involved in a  fatal collision. However, police officers never charged him in connection with the fatal accident that killed two drivers. So, why is the investigation still taking so long?

According to TMJ4, he was driving his loaded tractor-trailer through an intersection in the right lane. The light was green, but turned yellow as he entered the intersection. Then a car suddenly turned in front of him.

Hafer tried to swerve to avoid hitting them, and the police report concluded that he didn’t have time to stop. Unfortunately, two elderly passengers in the car lost their lives. He complied with the police officers and submitted a blood sample.

He has been operating semi-trucks for over 20 years and needs his tractor-trailer back to keep his business alive. Hafer shares that his livelihood and his family’s financial security were taken away.

Reportedly, the Sheriff’s Department refuses requests for more information about the investigation. However, the investigation remains open.

Hafer shares, “This whole situation is a tragedy for everyone involved. I would like the Sheriff’s Department to wrap up what they’re doing.”
