A semi-truck carrying a full load of liquid detergent crashed and overturned on an on-ramp to southbound Interstate 5 in California. The accident occurred at around 2:35 a.m on Monday, according to police reports.

The California Highway Patrol contacted crews, who then had to clean up liquid detergent off the freeway on-ramp near Sacramento. Several pallets of detergent were on the road, which was partially blocked due to the crash. Parts of the roadway were very slick as a result of the spilled liquid laundry detergent.

The semi-truck veered off southbound Interstate 5 and into the grass before landing on its side, according to the California Highway Patrol, which spoke to KCRA News. Before the semi-truck was uprighted, crews had to clean up a spill on the road and remove all of the detergent.

Paramedics took the truck driver to a hospital for treatment, but the accident did not seriously injure him.

Think stuff like this never happens? Think again

Just a few days ago, a tractor-trailer overturned on Interstate 95 South in Virginia after the driver swerved to avoid a vehicle that cut in front of the truck. The semi was hauling approximately 43,000 pounds of laundry detergent. The truck struck an exit sign and a guardrail before overturning and coming to rest along the right shoulder lane.

Last month, another tractor-trailer hauling liquid laundry detergent overturned along Interstate 81 in New York.

And in 2015, a crash involved a truck hauling 40,000 pounds of laundry detergent, again in Virginia. That crash closed the right and center southbound lanes on I-95.
