‘You’re getting scammed’ TikToker incorrectly claims the Ram 1500 cuts corners
Fair warning, this post could cause second-hand embarrassment. As people take to TikTok to rant, they don’t always do their research first. Don’t believe everything you hear, because this young man claims that the Ram 1500 cuts corners, but he has it all wrong.
TikTok user claims the Ram 1500 is a scam
I decided to give TikTok user @bevurly a chance by listening to why he thinks the Ram 1500 is a pile of junk.
He jumps out of the gate all heated, saying this Ram truck is the worst option to buy, and you’re being scammed out of your money.
He claims that the engineering cuts corners by doing things like using plastic upper control arms instead of metal ones.
The user says this is why sales have dipped, because buyers don’t want this junk. Then he says you pay extra for things like big screens and stupid technology.
But he can’t fool real truck fans. Commenters were quick to point out that the upper control arms.
According to The Drive, a Ram spokesperson explained that the arms are a composite that’s integrated with a steel structure.
Then they are e-coated to prevent corrosion. It provides a significant weight reduction while offering high-tensile strength.
The load on upper control arms is negligible compared to the load on lowers. That’s why the Ford Bronco Raptor uses steel lowers but aluminum uppers. Plus, the Ram spokesperson dares people to put a magnet next to the upper control arms.
One commenter asks who will tell the user that he’s wrong? Perhaps it’s time to send a DM with the facts politely.
