Diners at an Italian restaurant outside Chicago were in for a surprise. They noticed a Rolls Royce luxury car casually parked outside the restaurant, with no license plates. Suspicious, to say the least.

When police officers arrived, they checked the vehicle identification number under the windshield. Sure enough, it was the same Rolls Royce that had disappeared while being transported from Texas to North Carolina earlier in the week. Luckily, the officers didn’t have to wait long. They simply staked out the stolen car until 31-year-old Husamuldeen Abed arrived, pulled out the keys, and unlocked it.

The man, who was from less than an hour away, possessed a license plate stolen from a 2006 Audi. He also had tools to hang it off the Rolls. It’s still unclear whether he bought the car in Illinois, or drove it all the way from Texas without a plate.

Abed was arrested without incident. He’s been charged with felony aggravated unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle and possession of stolen property. He can say pasta la vista to his getaway plans.
