Things in Texas escalated as the robbery of a FedEx truck didn’t go as planned. While attempting to flee the area, he hit a police officer with his SUV. Then he had to avoid being shot as an officer fired their gun.

Texas man his a police officer with an SUV after robbing a FedEx truck

Jaynan Harper is currently sitting behind bars after allegedly robbing a FedEx truck. A detective with the Irving Police Department was following up on an investigation on Promenade Parkway.

There have been several thefts from delivery trucks reported in the area. While investigating, the detective spotted an SUV linked to several previous thefts.

According to Fox 4 News, Harper was allegedly spotted stealing from a FedEx truck nearby. As the detective attempted to contact him, he tried to flee. He jumped out of the truck and climbed into his SUV.

Harper intentionally struck the detective in his arm with the SUV. A witness reported seeing him accelerate directly towards the officer. He jumped out of the way just in time to avoid being seriously injured.

The police officer fired his gun at Harper once, but didn’t hit him. Harper got away, but not for long. The Dallas Police Department found him later.

Harper is charged with aggravated assault on a public servant. It’s unclear if he was charged for the alleged theft or previous thefts in the area. Also, the report didn’t include if the detective was injured.

I hope everyone is okay! Including the SUV that could have been damaged by a bullet. Also, residents shouldn’t be surprised if a few of their packages get delayed.
