Rhode Island beer truck crashes in traffic, blocking lanes and spilling booze ‘all over the highway’
Homer Simpson would run, not walk, to get to this accident scene. A beer truck crashed into a portion of an overpass, unleashing its hoppy cargo all over the highway. The crash closed multiple lanes of traffic for hours as crews worked to sanitize the suds.
A beer truck crashed on Interstate 95 in Pawtucket this morning, spilling beer all over the road surface
Traffic was slowed to a standstill this morning on I-95 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Not by construction. But rather a beer-toting semi-truck crashing during the early hours of Monday morning.
According to an X post by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, the beer truck crashed into an upright bridge support. The impact caused the truck to dump its payload all over the road surface.
A WPRI-TV television news crew reported having seen beer “spilled all over the highway.” And so close to Oktoberfest. There might be a few disappointed drinkers in Pawtucket this week. Unfortunately, local police report at least one injury in the crash.
As comical as an overturned beer truck might sound, it’s a sobering reminder to pay attention and stay alert. It’s also, unfortunately, indicative of a difficult, lengthy recovery process for emergency services.
Anytime a large vehicle like a semi-truck crashes, emergency crews have to redirect or stop traffic entirely. And that’s just the beginning.
In some cases, special HAZMAT crews have to work quickly to control spills and prevent ecological disasters. Even without hazardous spills, a semi-truck requires heavy-duty wrecker and recovery equipment.
