Police officers in Florida responded to reports of a vehicle break-in at a Publix grocery store in Ormond-by-the-Sea. Once officers arrived, they discovered the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Justin Allen, sitting inside an SUV.
Allen was armed with a hammer and repeatedly struck the infotainment system and other valuable areas of the Nissan model. Officers took him into custody as Allen claimed he owned the vehicle before sharing that it was his girlfriend’s car.
According to Wesh, Allen shares that he was “taking revenge on his ex’s car”. The ex in question claims the relationship ended due to a lack of communication. Also, he was targeting the wrong SUV.
An innocent woman owns the Nissan SUV. She’s shocked that someone would do that to her vehicle. This leaves her family without a way to get around.
Allen faces charges for burglary, possession of burglary tools, criminal mischief over over $1,000, and possession of drugs. Perhaps the drugs explain how he mistakenly attacked the wrong vehicle. Also, the ex-girlfriend seemingly dodged a bullet.
Zachary Yeoman, the owner of Daytona Nissan Infiniti, steps up to help as a good Samaritan. He tracked down the Publix employee to assist with vehicle repairs. Plus, he’s providing a free rental car, so her family can get around in the meantime.
