One sports car and one 4WD
Adam Rickle dreamed of one sports car and one 4WD: “66 Olds 442 next to a 77 or 78 Power Wagon.” Bryan Carr kept it in the GM family: “2025 ZR1 Corvette and a lifted 1980 Chevy 1500 Blazer w/a LS1 and removable topper.” Wade Ashford dreamed of a Ford version: “1969 Mustang Boss 429 and a 1997 Ford F250 Crew Cab 4×4.”
Joe Scarff went with a different automaker: “Nissan Armada. Nissan GTR.” Meanwhile, Shawn C. Weed dreamed of an exotic twist on the 4WD/sports car formula: “E63 AMG and Lotus Exige 430 Cup.” Jason Soerensen went domestic with his sports car and Japanese with his 4WD: “1987 GNX and a Toyota Tundra.” Brian Davis went with the exact opposite: “1970 Ford Highboy & 2005 Acura NSX.” Zachary Brown stuck with trucks exclusively: “4th gen Cummins and turbo LS 67 C10.”
Matthew Oberbreckling also focused on a truck and sports car from a specific era. “2005 F150 FX4 Super Cab in Race Red and a 04 Terminator in black and if I could have one more it would be a 2011 Crown Vic LX with the door pad and floor auto.”
Greg Hughes wanted an old truck and new sports car: “A fully built LBZ Duramax in a 80s jacked-up 4dr long bed 3500 Chevy and a 2017 supercharged Dodge Viper ACR.” Tim White had a similar mindset: “New/future Miata with the 2.5L SkyActiv engine. 1990 CK1500 Silverado spec (K5) Blazer.” Another commenter was so specific about the mechanical setup of their older Chevy truck and Chevy Camaro or Pontiac Firebird that they left model names out completely: “Square body K20, big block and SM465 on D60s and 37s. As well as any 3rd gen F-body with a 383, T56 or TKX, Ford 9-inch rear, and subframes.”
Unique mix-and-match
One German car enthusiast said, “Tuned diesel X5 and a V12 SL.” Ty Petersen, a compact car enthusiast, wanted a mix of old and new: “Well mine is a Fiesta ST and a hosted up 74’ BMW 2002.”
Mindaugas Palunkiškis dreamed of sports cars but mixed in a four-door: “Porsche Panamera and Lexus LC.” Codah Caudill went with some classics: “The Roadmaster wagon and add an 85 TBird turbo coupe.” Elaine Gates mixed and matched eras but stuck with one automaker: “69 Dodge Charger & 91 Dodge Stealth R/T.”
William Underwood’s dream was half sensible, half enthusiast: “McLaren 720 and a Subaru Ascent.” Joe Smith offered a foreign-market twist on this formula: “R34 Skyline GTR and Alphard or Vellfire (minivan).” Randy Piontkowski answered similarly but stayed realistic about budget: “2019 Toyota Land Cruiser and Ford Cobra Kit Car for the summer because I can’t afford a real one.”
Bill Gosselin mixed it up with a vintage people hauler and modern sports car: “A Buick Roadmaster station wagon and a Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing.” Dan McCarthy would pair the same Roadmaster with “a Lexus LC500 convertible.” Kameron Roberts chose a Y2K-era twist: “02-04 Ford Lightning. R32 Skyline.” Joe Lowrey went old and new, but 100% British: “Morgan Plus Four and Jaguar XF Sportbrake.”
Ethan Kupershtein chose two intriguingly similar vehicles: “1) Lexus GX 550 Luxury+ (7-passenger version) 2) Toyota 4Runner Limited 4X4 (7-passenger version).”
Just dreaming
Joshua Fitzgerald didn’t get too caught up in the “realistic” part of the question: “‘62 Galaxie 500 and a ‘78 Lincoln Town Car.” George Winter was right there with him: “1972 Pontiac GTO and a 1967 Ford Fairlane GT 500.” Mark Kransic doubled down on Ford muscle: “Twin Turbo Gen1 Ford GT Stripe Delete. Twin Turbo aluminum block 427 / 6-speed Foxbody Coupe on a Roadstershop Fast Track IRS chassis.”
Tony Zavala wasn’t too caught up in “realistic” either: “Diesel-powered Scout 2 and a 79 Celica.” Nor was Callo Calde: “Series 60 Land Cruiser and R32 GT-R.”
Truly realistic answers
The most “realistic” award might go to Hunter Holden: “F250 and a Crown Vic is good with me. A good workhorse and a good ‘all-round’ car.” Jefferson Thomas was equally realistic but stretched to three vehicles: “The current 2008 Ford Taurus X and the 2011 Honda Fit with trusty old 96 Ranger.” Peter Milner understood the assignment: “Realistic? Mk3 Supra and a 2000’s Ranger.”
Antoine Lee-Thomas may have had the most detailed answer: “Realistically: 1. 2026 Ford Bronco Badlands 4-Door 7-Speed Manual with the 334A High Luxury Package and full body-colored roof panels in Velocity Blue 2. Acura Integra Type S fully loaded in Double Apex Blue with a custom made Double Apex Blue interior or the red seats interior in its upcoming mid-cycle refresh.”
Colorful answers
John Anderson weighed in from across the Atlantic: “To add a British input – I always have to stretch the limit of ‘realistic’ – 2017 Jag F-Type V8 (quite realistic) circa £40k + 2012 McLaren MP4-12C circa £75k (not so realistic). I’ve decided my dream garage does not have to include anything practical.”
Many commenters opted for comedy. André Batista poked fun at new car prices: “Realistic? The way things are going, Hot Wheels and Matchbox.” Keith Bell spoke for everyone when he said he dreams of, “two cars paid off and no mechanical problems.”
Randy Bragge pointed out that if we’re dreaming, we might as well dream big: “I dream of a 2-aircraft hangar instead.” Jim Oster had another definition of dreaming big: “It’s not a 2-car garage. Mine holds 11.”
Shannon Godbehere typed straight truth: “Wait you put cars in the garage? I thought it was a junk collection unit.” Tom Whiting Sr. agreed: “One that held only vehicles and not full of household things!”
The most popular joke answer was fantasizing about the garage itself. Donald Stephenson wrote, “One with a lift and an I-beam electric hoist. Room for my big toolbox from work and double deep.”
Some lucky drivers already have their dream garage
Carl Capanna had interesting priorities: “Have them both, just need a garage. Porsche Panamera 4 & Porsche Macan S.” Someone get this man a garage! He wasn’t the only person who discussed their current fleet.
Chris Harkin was halfway to his dream garage: “Back when I had a CJ-7. I wanted a Corvette too.” Ricky Dosamantes is also building: “1998 Honda NSX, and the other is a Tacoma (which I already have) just need the NSX now lol.”
Halim Bou wrote, “I have a Renault Clio Mk2 diesel and a Miata.” Not a bad combo! Chris McDowell stretched to three, but all excellent choices: “I have mine, a 99 Land Cruiser built for wheelin’, a supercharged 5.7 Tundra, and a Mk5 Supra!”
My favorite answers were photos of actual garages. Kev Fenwick posted an E-Body Dodge Challenger and an old Chevy truck, writing, “I had it.” Michael Lee shared a photo of a Mazda Miata and Honda Civic Type R. It’s good to see them out there, living the dream.
