Ram Brake Lawsuit Settles With $3K Payouts to Truck Owners
Owners of Ram trucks may qualify for a payout. Stellantis officially agrees to settle a class action lawsuit related to alleged brake defects. This is related to the anti-lock system and brake hydraulic control unit in heavy-duty trucks.
Ram brake lawsuit settlement pays truck owners
Certain models of heavy-duty Ram trucks may be eligible for reimbursement as Stellantis settles a class-action lawsuit. The lawsuit is related to speculative defects in 2017 – 2018 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 models. These trucks built between April 1, 2017, and December 29, 2018.
Reportedly, defects in the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and brake hydraulic control unit (Brake HCU) caused full brake lockup and other problems. This potentially increases the risk of accidents and injuries.
Plaintiffs also report that owners and lessees suffered financial damages related to the cost of expensive repairs and a diminished vehicle value.
According to Top Class Actions, Stellantis doesn’t admit to any wrongdoing. But it will pay an undisclosed sum to resolve related allegations.
Class members may receive repair reimbursements of up to $3,000 per vehicle. Plus, rental vehicle reimbursements of up to $1,000 per vehicle, and benefits from a voluntary safety recall.
The recall includes the installation of new Brake HCU components with a pump motor brush material change at no cost to owners.
You can apply for reimbursement with this request form. You need your 17-digit V.I.N and proof of repair for Brake HCU replacement with a detailed invoice and proof of payment. Also, have your car rental receipts if claiming rental vehicle reimbursement.
The deadline to file a claim is to be determined.
