To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Pixar film Cars, Porsche brought Lightning McQueen and Sally Carrera back to Daytona. Porsche will have nine cars competing in the 24 Hours of Daytona endurance race this weekend.

“Twenty years have passed since Disney and Pixar’s Cars introduced us to the true meaning of Ka-Chow, and now Sally Carrera and Lightning McQueen have been reunited at Daytona International Speedway!” Porsche Motorsports wrote on Instagram.

“They’re joined by the faster than fast, quicker than quick pairing of the Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 and Rexy – AO Racing’s 911 GT3 R as they prepare for the race this weekend.”

Back in March 2022, Porsche marked Sally Carrera’s 20th anniversary. To do so, they created a real-life version of the famous movie car for a charitable auction.

“In the world of Disney and Pixar’s Cars, Sally Carrera is a beautiful 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera from California who grew tired of life in the fast lane and made a new start in the small town of Radiator Springs,” Porsche explained at the time. “She is the town’s attorney and the car most dedicated to helping get Radiator Springs ‘back on the map.’ She strived, always, to make a difference – to help.”
