Philadelphia police knew a squad SUV was stolen but never reported it
Do you smell that? It’s something fishy and it’s coming from a few police officers in Philadelphia. For some reason, officers never filed a report for an SUV that was stolen and wrecked. It was assigned to an active deputy at the time.
Philadelphia police never reported stolen SUV
Police officers in Philadelphia are seemingly up to funny business. An inceptor or police SUV was stolen and wrecked, but for some reason, officers never filed a report.
City officials are now demanding answers as to why the incident was never reported. According to the Inquirer, Philadelphia Sheriff Rochelle Bilal is launching an internal investigation into the matter.
The incident occurred about a year ago. At the time, the Ford Explorer was assigned as a take home vehicle for a high ranking employee.
They weren’t mentioned by name in a complaint report that was filed a few days later. Officers documented the accident, but never notified the crash department about the squad car.
Witnesses shared that they saw the Ford SUV flying down Cedar Avenue with its lights on. It ran through a stop light, was hit by a car that had a green light, and then hit a parked truck. The truck was pushed into another vehicle.
A man hopped out of the crashed Explorer and clearly wasn’t a deputy. He was wearing a tank top and ran away from the scene while carrying a poodle.
The incident wasn’t promptly investigated and charges were never filed. Also, the city was unaware that a city-owner SUV was wrecked until someone at the sheriff’s office requested a new SUV.
The city is unaware of the current location of the wrecked SUV or the identity of whom it was assigned to. Basically, someone has some explaining to do. WHY WAS A POODLE INVOLVED?
