Missouri police officers tried to stop an SUV on the interstate for traveling slowly at four miles per hour. But they discovered the situation was more dangerous than expected, as the driver was asleep! Plus, the vehicle was full of illegal drugs.

Missouri police stop driver for going four MPH while sleeping

A police officer spotted an SUV doing something that they don’t see every day. It was traveling at four miles per hour on Interstate 44, which is dangerously slow.

One officer used his police car to travel beside the vehicle and determined its speed. Then he hit his siren and lights to initiate a traffic stop. But the vehicle didn’t respond. The officer could only see a man asleep in the passenger seat and called for backup.

Other deputies arrived to help. One of them parked their car and walked beside the SUV. He was able to knock on the passenger window to wake the occupants up. The driver immediately pulled over.

According to KRCG TV, the suspects were acting lethargically and had bloodshot eyes. They had a glass pipe sitting on the center console, which warranted a search. As a result, officers found methamphetamine while searching the passenger and the driver’s side door.

The driver, identified as Bryan G. Kelley, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest for a felony. It’s unclear if the passenger was arrested, but he had possession of an illegal substance.

Also, it seems like the driver could also face charges for operating under the influence. But ironically, meth is supposed to wake people up, not make them pass out.
