Iowa Police Chief Busted For Stealing $200,000 From Local Cities
One police chief from Iowa has some explaining to do. Allegedly, he stole nearly $200,000 from local cities and thought no one would notice. The transactions were made with equipment owned by the city and dispersed to other emergency responders.

William Daggett of Iowa served as the Police chief of Mitchellville and the interim city administrator. He resigned once a state audit was released. Now faces charges for with first-degree theft and felonious misconduct.
Newly elected Baxter officials noticed financial irregularities and requested state intervention. The audit shows that about $75,000 of improperly paid out of city funds for payroll and compensatory time.
Plus, Daggett received over $50,000 in improper pay. Auditors reported that his work hours do not align with when he was really on duty. Katelyn Wilson, the former city clerk faces a charge for unauthorized computer access, which is an aggravated misdemeanor.
According to KCCI, Jasper County filed criminal complaints against Wilson for failing to turn in her city-owned laptop after she resigned. Continued accessing it to transfer large files and to delete content.
Auditors found that she received $3,410 in important payroll and found another $11,295 in unsupported disbursements. The city’s Visa credit card contains these transactions.
Plus, an Emergency Medical Services coordinator (EMS), Randi Gliem, faces a citation for receiving $1,461 in improper payroll and excess vacation payouts. Formal charges could follow.
Several Mitchellville city employees have raised concerns about Wilson’s conduct. They have requested a state audit into city finances.
