Stealing an Amazon truck seems like a bold choice. Where do criminals plan on hiding these massive EV vans? One Oklahoma man didn’t make it that far as a police chase ended when a stolen delivery van got stuck on some train tracks.

Oklahoma man runs from police in stolen Amazon van

I feel like it might be hard to get away with a stolen Amazon van because of their size. Plus, how do you blend in with such a large delivery vehicle?

Police officers in Oklahoma City responded to reports of a stolen vehicle around New Castle Road and South Portland Avenue. They quickly spotted the electric van in the area and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

However, the suspect identified as 43-year-old Melvin Bishop ignored demands to stop the vehicle and get out. According to KFOR, he led police officers on a brief chase.

Bishop turned off the road and tried to drive down the train tracks, but got stuck as police officers flattened the back tires. Getting stuck didn’t cause Bishop to surrender as he refused to exit the van.

Officers broke the passenger side window and threw tear gas inside to force him out. Then he was taken into custody. The driver of the truck shared that she was delivering a package when Bishop jumped inside the EV and sped off.

The rest of the packages were probably delayed as the area remained closed until a tow truck could remove the vehicle from the tracks. Plus, the truck was damaged, so the packages probably went back to the warehouse. What a mess!
