United passenger has a $10k fine after his Xanax and alcohol fueled potty break wasted $30k worth of fuel
Millions of people fly commercially each year due to the convenience it allows. However, most of these plane passengers keep in mind that certain behaviors are prohibited both in the airport and while on the flight. Still, one man recently made a massive mistake while on a United airplane, and now he’s facing a hefty fine from the airline.
This plane passenger not only urinated on himself but also caused the plane to be turned around
It’s not uncommon for plane passengers to be nervous before flying. For many, it can be a stressful situation, and some have ways to cope with the discomfort. However, according to The New York Post, one man on a United Airlines flight took his coping mechanisms too far. Apparently, he decided to mix Xanax and alcohol before a flight headed to Newark. The plane was coming from Amsterdam. However, this unsafe combination didn’t have the impact he hoped it would.
The report says that the man became “unruly” during the flight. Of course, this caused a significant disruption for the other plane passengers, many of whom didn’t know what to expect next. This is said to have happened about two hours into the flight. Things worsen when you learn that he then urinated all over himself and the aisle. Because of this, the pilot diverted the aircraft to Dublin, which meant they had to dump $30k worth of fuel.
Naturally, the other plane passengers were mortified by what they witnessed. However, their shock didn’t end there as Ireland’s national police boarded the plane and arrested the man. The report says that he had become so intoxicated that he “couldn’t understand where he was.” Of course, he’s now facing multiple charges. Plus, United Airlines has hit him with a $10k fee to make up for having to dump the fuel. Now, the passenger has said that he is “horrified and embarrassed” by his actions on the aircraft.
