People looking to travel have several options for how they go about getting from point A to point B. However, most people who travel great distances opt to become passengers on a plane. However, there is always the slight chance that the airplane could have mechanical issues. This happened recently on an American Airlines plane, and now one of the passengers is filing a lawsuit.

So far, he’s the only plane passenger suing American Airlines over the fire

As many know, an American Airlines plane carrying 172 passengers caught fire on March 13th. The pilot diverted and landed the plane at Denver International Airport. Following this, the passengers and crew members aboard the aircraft were forced to evacuate. Now, according to Denver 7, Jerry Adamson, who was one of the passengers, is suing the airline for negligence and misconduct.

Naturally, this was a stressful situation for the passengers on the plane. According to the man’s legal representation, “As a direct and proximate result of the negligent conduct of Defendants, Mr. Adamson has suffered, and will continue to suffer, injuries, damages and losses, including but not limited to past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish and emotional distress.”

Additionally, Mr. Adamson feels that American Airlines dropped the proverbial ball when it comes to the maintenance and operation of the plane, which is something other passengers may agree with. Notably, they were flying on a Boeing 737-800. The lawsuit goes on to accuse the crew of not following emergency checklists and standard operating procedures. It also says that they didn’t request timely emergency assistance. There is also language about failure to move passengers away from the burning engine. It’s unclear what the passenger is seeking from the lawsuit.
