Ohio driver led the police on a 120 mph chase before causing a serious crash and going to jail
Most people are keenly aware that high-speed chases are dangerous for everyone on the road. They cause several car wrecks each year and a great deal of property damage. However, they are sometimes necessary when a driver tries to evade a traffic stop. Unfortunately, this happened recently in Ohio, and the driver behind the wheel reached ultra-dangerous speeds and landed himself in jail.
Not only did he evade a traffic stop, but he put everyone on the road at risk
There are many reasons why police might pull a driver over for a traffic stop. In fact, millions of people have these encounters with police on a yearly basis. According to Local 12 News, one officer in Franklin, Ohio, was recently on patrol when he noticed a car drive by with a fictitious registration. Of course, this warrants an interaction with the police, so the officer flashed his lights and turned on the siren, but the driver took off.
Naturally, the police officer pursued the driver and continued trying to make the traffic stop. However, the person behind the wheel soon accelerated to about 120 miles per hour, which is unsafe. This is demonstrated by the fact that the man ended up crashing into a pole. However, things didn’t end there as he tried to get away on foot before eventually being caught by law enforcement.
Police were able to identify the driver following the traffic stop. Of course, he’s facing multiple charges. They include failure to comply, obstructing official business, fleeing, and reckless operation. The man also has charges for his excessive speed, notably because he went more than 30 miles per hour over the speed limit.
Of course, no one wants to get into trouble with the law. However, evading traffic stops never ends well. Additionally, causing high-speed chases is also dangerous and can easily cause car wrecks. It’s always best to face the music and to maintain safety for everyone on the road. Of course, it also helps to avoid using fake car tags.
