New Tesla model promises self-vandalism in SNL skit
This weekend, Saturday Night Live featured Jack Black, Elton John, and Brandi Carlile. However, the show brought another crowd favorite into the mix, namely Mike Myers as Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Myers poked fun at the world’s richest man, unveiled a new joke Tesla model, and pissed off Musk in the process.
Mike Myers’s Elon Musk unveiled the new Tesla ‘Model V,’ a self-vandalizing EV, on SNL
Saturday Night Live doesn’t pull punches. Hell, that’s why we had a seemingly unending parade of Donald Trump performances by Alec Baldwin. However, this weekend’s show didn’t batter Trump quite as hard as it typically does. No, this week’s on-screen punching bag was Tesla CEO and DOGE head, Elon Musk.
Lovable comedic force Jack Black may have hosted, but Musk’s portrayal was reprised by none other than Mike Myers, former cast member and actor behind the beloved “Austin Powers” franchise. And what an entrance! SNL cast member James Austin Johnson, playing Trump, touched on US tariffs, including those pointed squarely at Musk’s home of South Africa.
“They’ve never even sent us one good thing,” Johnson’s Trump said. A moment later, Myers pops up on screen in Musk’s guise and wearing a cheese head as a nod to the CEO’s failed attempt to influence elections in Wisconsin. “What about me?” Myers’s Musk said. “That was from when I tried to buy the election in Wisconsin,” he added. “I’m an idiot. I should have just bought Wisconsin.”
Then, in typical Musk fashion, Myers lamented Tesla’s image. “Suddenly, no one likes Tesla cars,” Myers exclaimed. “So I asked myself why and then I answered myself: because of me!” The CEO parody then goes on to unveil the new Tesla “Model V.” “[It’s] the first electric car in history to be fully self-vandalizing,” the fake Musk said. What an age we live in.
Elon Musk isn’t happy with his SNL portrayal
Musk took to social media to respond. In one X post, he claimed that SNL “hasn’t been funny in a long time.” Perhaps he’s referring to the time when Myers was himself a regular cast member. “They are their own parody,” Musk wrote on social media.
