How motorists really feel about Tesla drivers isn’t very shocking
Surprise, Americans aren’t the only ones who drum up reputations about car brands. For example, BMW drivers don’t know what a turn signal is. There are spicy stereotypes about motorists all over the world, and Tesla drivers aren’t represented in the best light.
Tesla drivers are seen exactly like you would expect
There are some wild driver stereotypes based on car brands. Just to name a few off the top of my head, it’s that lesbians love Subaru, BMW drivers are jerks, and those with jacked-up trucks are compensating for something.
These reputations aren’t exactly true, but they can get pretty popular. Unfortunately, Elon Musk’s recent political behavior may have hurt how Tesla drivers are seen around the world.
Money Supermarket performed a global study including roughly 5,000 motorists from over 20 countries to see how drivers really feel.
Those with Tesla EVs are seen as the worst at parking. Ford drivers are in second place, followed by Hyundai owners, BMW, and Kia.
About 31% of participants call Tesla the least cool car brand. Kia is in second place with 27% of the vote. Then, Suabru rings in third place, followed by Nissan and BYD.
In a bit of good news, 60% of survey participants think that Tesla drivers are eco-conscious. Then 52% think they are flash, 43% called them arrogant, 40% said they’re competitive, and 38% call Tesla owners confident.
Plus, the electric car maker ranks in the top five for categories related to driving too fast, too aggressively, and without using turn signals.
Tesla didn’t earn any accolades for the positive stereotype categories, such as being known for driving at safe speeds, letting other people merge, or being courteous behind the wheel. But maybe one of those, ‘I bought this before Elon went crazy’ stickers will help.
