The most popular Honda SUV is slashing its prices
It seems pretty interesting that the most popular Honda SUV has dealers slashing its price by thousands. The effort to get these SUVs off the lot is really heating up. But why is it suddenly struggling compared to rivals?
The most popular Honda SUV gets price cuts
Based on sales, the most popular Honda SUV is the Honda CR-V. It’s incredibly popular and known for being efficient and reliable. But it still struggles behind its main rival, the Toyota RAV4.
The price of the CR-V is being slashed by thousands. According to AOL, some of the biggest discounts are between $1,303 – $1,846 below MSRP. The 2025 CR-V has an MSRP of $30,100.
Getting a brand new SUV of this size for under $30,000 is really surprising in this economy. So, what’s going on? Is the CR-V in trouble?
Not exactly. The 2024 model sold 402,791 units in 2024. The Ford Explorer only sold 194,094 SUVs in 2024, so it was crushed. However, the Toyota RAV4 is the sales leader and sold 475,193 models.
Honda might be playing offense instead of defense with these deals. Some automakers are currently absorbing costs to protect consumers as new tariffs take effect. The tariffs could cause the prices of imported cars and parts to rise.
But the deals could be related to the time of year. There are always great auto deals to be found around Labor Day and into the fall as dealerships clear out space for new model years. It could be worth pouncing on the 2025 model before the 2026 one arrives.
