Alex Kacsh is the owner and CEO of Accurate Automotive in Northglenn, Colorado. He and his staff share what they’ve learned about cars on their TikTok @AccurateAutoInc. When asked what car brand has improved most in the last 10 years, Kacsh’s answer was immediate: Mazda.

The mechanic urges his followers to consider the automaker. “If you’re talking about a vehicle in the last 10 years that have made significant improvements, that is still a great economical vehicle, good reliability.”

Kacsh wouldn’t limit Mazda’s glow-up to just the past 10 years. He feels the Japanese automaker has been on the right track for two decades. “I think that even some of the early things that we’ve seen from 05 to 2015 and obviously after the separation too, I think Mazda.” By “separation,” Kacsh is referring to Ford gradually selling its 33.4% stake in Mazda until 2015.

Many experts agree with Kacsh. When Consumer Reports ranked 22 automakers by predicted reliability, Mazda landed in sixth place. That puts it ahead of every German automaker, every U.S. automaker, and even Japanese rival Nissan.

I’ll add that the biggest upset in Consumer Reports’ rankings this year was when Subaru took the first place spot from both Toyota and Lexus. Note that CR’s rankings are for both used and new vehicles.

So what is Kacsh’s runner-up to Mazda for most improved over the past decade? GMC.
