A Massachusetts driver was thrown from a car after hitting multiple homes in a massive crash on a residential street. The crash occurred at around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday morning in Everett, and much of it was caught on video.

Home security camera video shows the driver of a white sedan speeding down a residential street. The car then hits a speed bump on the road at full speed. That jolt lifted the car off the ground and sent it crashing and spinning into the front yard of one home and taking out street signs.

The vehicle then continued and struck another house before coming to a stop in the home’s yard. As it came to a rest, the driver could be seen hanging out of the side window, almost completely out of the car. He then finished climbing out of the car and walked away.

The driver told police that when he tried to apply the brakes, nothing happened. Neither he nor any residents were injured in the wild crash.

The out-of-control car took out the power to the neighborhood

During the crash, the driver took out one of the home’s power meters, which, in turn, took out power in parts of the neighborhood and left at least 10 people displaced, according to WCVB News.

“I was sleeping right up there and heard a noise. Hit something and felt violently shook the whole house,” said Perush Gurung, one of the homes’ residents. “I can’t believe someone survived it. The guy jumped out of the car as it finalized its movement across the street.

“The wall shifted, so we can’t even open the door for us at all,” Gurung continued. “They say because of the front door. You can’t open it in case of fire or anything emergency happens, so we can’t stay in the house, and also the electricity as well.”

“There’s this loud boom,” Eliza Brennan-Pratt, a resident of the street, told Boston 25 News. “I opened the curtain and looked outside and saw the car up on the neighbor’s yard facing the wrong direction, and there was debris all over the street. So, it was definitely a big shock and surprise to wake up like that.”

Ed Miley, whose home’s steps were destroyed in the crash, said, “[The car] literally tumbled in this area. And the guy got right out of the car like it was nothing. Just out of control, bouncing off the sidewalks, up and over the front yard, taking off my railings.”

The driver reportedly remained at the scene after the crash and was issued a citation by police.
