Sometimes people love their trucks more than some of their family members. That’s why it’s not very surprising that a Florida man was determined to get his stolen truck back. He drove 800 miles to find it when investigators were taking too long.

Florida man drives 800 miles to find his stolen truck

A man named Johnathan in south Florida was heart broken over his stolen truck. He had a beloved Ram 1500 TRX. He saved money for years to get his dream truck. The Ram 1500 TRX has an MSRP of $96,340, so it’s not exactly easy to get.

Jonathan only had his truck for a few months before thieves managed to take it. He immediately filed a report with the Broward Sheriff’s Office. Then Johnathan never heard back from the police.

After deciding that the investigators were taking too long, he took matters into his own hands. He started searching for the Ram truck on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace.

After weeks of searching, he didn’t have any leads. But he got a lucky break when a Stellantis app sent the location of the truck to his phone. He got the alert even though the thieves disabled the vehicle’s GPS.

According to WSVN, the odometer said 800 miles were added to the odometer. Then the stolen truck was spotted in an ad about 900 miles away in Nashville, Tennessee.

Jonathan spent nine hours searching for the specific location of the house with his truck. Once he found it, he notified the police in Nashville and started making his way there. Hours later, he was reunited with his stolen truck.

He believes that if he didn’t take action his truck may have never been recovered and has started tracking down stolen cars for others. He might become a detective.
