Surprise, the Ram 1500 TRX and its V8 are returning from the grave
Way to fool your devoted truck fans, Stellantis. Not to brag, but when it announced that the Ram 1500 TRX and its beefy V8 engine were being discontinued, I didn’t believe it. The HEMI has been too popular to kill since before the electric vehicle trend peaked.
The Ram 1500 TRX and V8 power are coming back
Stellantis and Ram put a lot of effort into redefining multiple lineups with the stout Hurricane engine. To be fair, it’s a good engine. However, some critics may say that the company is too focused on going electric when Americans aren’t exactly there yet.
It killed the Ram 1500 TRX, leaving the Ford F-150 Raptor R in an expensive league of its own. However, leaked rumors suggest that drivers can pay to play with the Ram 1500 TRX again soon. The monster truck is expected to return in 2026.
You might think that the new TRX will have an incredible amount of Hurricane power. However, multiple V8 engines are also in the picture.
The supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine with 702 hp never really died. It’s been kept alive in SUVs such as the Dodge Durango. Plus, the 5.7-liter V8 engine with 395 hp is expected to return.
Ram’s 6.4-liter V8 HEMI that’s been reserved for heavy-duty trucks is being added to the mix as well. Carols Travares resigned as the CEO of Stellantis and passed the reins back to Tim Kunikis.
That could explain why Ram might be switching back to making powerful gas guzzlers. Plus, it might not hurt to reattract some business with these moves.
