Indiana man steals $35,000 SUV with check fraud

The suspect, identified as 58-year-old Arthur Catlett Jr., is currently getting away with crimes. He faces charges of forgery, fraud, and auto theft.

Indiana police officers can’t seem to find him or the $35,000 SUV he stole from a Northwest Indiana dealership. Do you know where he’s hiding?

Hobart police officers responded to reports of a vehicle theft at a Toyota dealership located in the 4400 block of East Lincoln Highway in Merrillville.

According to WGN TV, an employee shared that Catlett Jr. entered the facility and negotiated the purchase of a Toyota Highlander for about $35,000.

Then he returned two days later with a cashier’s check through the Bank of America that covered the full amount. According to court documents, he then drove the SUV home.

Later in the day, Bank of America told the employee that the check was altered and fake once it was sent to them. Next, a detective discovered that Catlett Jr. doesn’t have a bank account with the branch.

Now a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Police officers have been taking to social media to let the public know that he’s a wanted man. If taken into custody, his bail is set at $50,000.
