Michigan man dumps body from SUV in traffic

Around 12:30 AM, police officers in East Grand Rapids responded to a welfare check. They received reports of a man lying unconscious on the pavement near Lake Drive SE and Plymouth Avenue SE.

Unfortunately, officers found 16-year-old Carhari Walton deceased in the street from a gunshot wound to the head. They found broken glass and several casings at an intersection close by.

Then they responded to reports of a vehicle fire. A stolen SUV was burning in a parking lot on Nature Trail Drive SE with casings inside. Also, the vehicle was reported stolen five days earlier.

Investigators learned that Carhari was last seen with the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Dellquan Cartier Willis in the stolen SUV with a third, unnamed suspect.

Willis admitted to driving the vehicle the night Carhari was killed, and shots were fired inside the cab. According to M Live, he told police shots were fired at them, but that didn’t line up with the evidence. He later admitted to shooting Carhari.

Willis is serving time at the Marquette Branch Prison. He’s facing 15-30 years for an armed robbery case in Kent County. Now he faces charges for murder and one count of a felony firearm, so he will be heading back to court.
