Police officers in Mobile, Alabama are still wondering how a man managed to get on top of a gas station with a machete. But that question was the least of their worries as they were splashed by his urine.
The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Brett Kraft, Jr. refused to get off the roof of the Murphy Gas Station off Highway 90 in Tillmans Corner as police officers and firefighters arrived on the scene just before midnight.
Mental health experts, K-9 units, and the swat team arrived to provide additional help, but Kraft refused to budge. He threatened officers and poured a bottle of urine on them.
One officer snuck on the roof and tried to apprehend Kraft. According to My NBC15, Kraft charged at him with his machete, breaking the officer’s nose and other facial bones.
After the attack, other officers quickly got on the roof with the help of the fire department. They got Kraft down without injury. Kraft was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
He was charged with assault, assault with bodily fluids, and criminal mischief. Kraft also damaged the gas station building. One police officer shared that this incident shows how first responders have to be prepared for whatever is thrown their way, including urine.
