Land Rover Offers Drivers Cash to Settle Engine Lawsuit
If you drive a Land Rover SUV, you may want to pay attention to a lawsuit the automaker just settled. Land Rover is offering drivers cash to reimburse out-of-pocket turbocharger repairs. It is also extending engine warranty coverage for certain models.
The affected vehicles include:
- 2013–2016 Range Rover Evoque
- 2015–2017 Discovery Sport
- 2013–2015 Land Rover LR2
To make a long story short, vehicle owners sued Jaguar Land Rover North America in U.S. District Court. Flynn-Murphy et al. alleged the automaker sold defective turbochargers that could wear out far earlier than expected. Land Rover did not admit wrongdoing. Instead, it agreed to settle the lawsuit out of court in exchange for dropping the claims.
Who qualifies and how to claim compensation
Under the settlement, Jaguar Land Rover will compensate Flynn-Murphy et al. and their attorneys. The company will also reimburse owners of affected vehicles who replaced a turbocharger or engine before the SUV reached 10 years or 100,000 miles. In addition, Land Rover will extend certain warranty coverage for qualifying vehicles.
Owners will not receive benefits automatically. The process requires two steps.
First, eligible owners will receive a “Notice of Proposed Class Action Settlement” by mail from Jaguar Land Rover. Next, they must enter their notice ID and confirmation code to submit a claim online by Feb. 19, 2026. Owners who believe they qualify but do not receive a notice may need to contact their local dealership directly.
