Yes, the Wagoneer SUV badge is no more. But the vehicle will live on with another name.
At some point, FCA/Stellantis decided to break into the full-size SUV market with a vehicle built on its popular Ram 1500 chassis. A logical move. It eventually handed branding over to Jeep, which sells some of the world’s most iconic SUVs. Another smart choice. The Wagoneer debuted for the 2021 model year. Wagoneer was technically a Jeep sub-brand, but the SUVs didn’t have a single Jeep badge or insignia, inside or out. And it gets even more confusing.
Wagoneer was not just a subbrand—it was also a model name for the cheaper of the SUV’s trims. The more expensive trim—intended to compete with the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator—was called the “Grand Wagoneer.” You could order either a Wagoneer or a Grand Wagoneer with their own unique Series I, II, or III trims. You could also configure each of those six trims to be regular length or “L” for a longer wheelbase. Confused yet?
Jeep Grand Wagoneer will replace both Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer
For the 2026 model year, the Wagoneer lineup will get two major branding changes—and some welcome clarity. First and foremost, all of these SUVs will have Jeep badges. So the new SUV will be badged as the “Jeep Grand Wagoneer.”
Secondly, the entry-level “Wagoneer” name is disappearing. Every single SUV sold will be a “Grand Wagoneer.”
When I heard this, I worried the big SUV would get a lot more expensive. The regular 2025 Wagoneer starts at $59,945 (plus a non-negotiable $2,095 destination fee). The Grand Wagoneer advertises an $84,945 MSRP (plus fees). That’s a major price jump. But sources say we’re just getting a cheaper Grand Wagoneer.
MotorTrend wrote, “The entry level, which starts under $65,000, is actually priced less to start than the old Wagoneer.” Obviously, $65k isn’t cheaper than the current $59k MSRP. But perhaps MotorTrend is referring to the price after fees. Jeep has not yet revealed its 2026 Grand Wagoneer MSRP. Its statement promises “a competitive price point under $65,000.”
