[Video] Lamborghini driver strikes construction workers on sidewalk, “Did anyone die?”
A driver in India is giving supercar owners worldwide a bad name. In the viral video, his casual reaction to striking construction workers with his Lamborghini is chilling.
The young Indian man was driving a red Lamborghini when he veered off the road. In the video it appears he managed to do a 180, drive up on the sidewalk, and strike a tree–before getting stuck on a curb.
Unfortunately for everyone involved that sidewalk was narrow and crowded because it runs around a construction site. Early reports say the drive struck two or three construction workers wearing bright orange safety vests. Authorities took two workers to a hospital for treatment, and their condition is stable.
Video emerges of the Lamborghini driver after striking construction workers
In the beginning of the video, other construction workers are fleeing from the car. Then once it’s clear the car isn’t moving, a crowd descends on the car. One bystander begins filming and opens the passenger-side door. He finds the driver leaned back casually in the vehicle. He’s wearing expensive clothes and surrounded by shopping bags from other designer brands. The following translation of the exchange comes from India’s NDTV news outlet.
The bystander says, “Have you learned a lot of stunts?” After this bizarre opener he says, “Do you know how many people have died here?”
The driver—who mind you still hasn’t gotten out of his car—just shrugs and nonchalantly asks, “Did anyone die here?”
That’s cold. He’s just watched two construction workers hit. Maybe he saw them both limp away, but seems like an awfully aloof response.
After the bystander ignores the question, the driver begins to extricate himself from the car, by climbing across the center console. The bystander tells someone else, “Call the cops, call the cops.”
Only at this point does the driver offer an explanation. He says, “I gently pressed the accelerator.” The bystander appears—at this point—to be completely over the exchange. He just snorts, “Did you press it gently?”
Police arrested this punk of a driver and seized his car. Maybe he’s showing a bit more remorse behind bars. You can see the confrontation after the crash and Indian coverage of the incident in the video below:
