Jeep refuses to break up with Toledo while doubling down
Somewhere, in Ohio, there is a tree that has “J + T” carved into it. That’s because Jeep and Toledo have a deep relationship. Stellantis had a rough year, causing Toledo to worry about its beloved SUV getting cold tires. However, there is nothing to worry about.
Jeep remains committed to Toledo, Ohio
Did you know there wouldn’t be a Jeep without Toledo, Ohio? It’s where the first Willy’s MB vehicle was born in 1941. For decades, the automaker has been building SUVs there and investing in the town.
Currently, the Wrangler and Gladiator are built there. However, after significant sales declines struck in 2024, the town became worried.
Sales of Toledo-made Wrangler models decreased by 3% and Gladiator sales dropped by 24%. Stellantis experienced a 70% decline in profit
But according to The Toledo Blade, Stellantis remains committed to the town. Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf shared that there have been zero thoughts about leaving Toledo.
It’s their home with so much history. There is no reason to move anywhere else. They plan to maintain what they have in Toledo as the cornerstone of the business. Operations will continue with consistency.
Broderdorf remains committed to improving sales and isn’t concerned about the declines in 2024. Retail sales among customers are up. The sales decline in 2024 is mostly attributed to fleets or company sales.
Massive changes for the brand are underway. Stellantis is investing $3.2 billion in Jeep. Fans can expect to see several new and refreshed models arriving within the next couple of months.
I’m ready to check out the new Jeep Cherokee, Recon, and Renegade. Also, I hope the Jeep Gladiator 4xe is still happening.
