While the Jeep Avenger and new Jeep Cherokee have massive differences, the Avenger still provides a preview of what to expect. It made a few choices that it has in common with the upcoming Cherokee, which provide hope and excitement for the next generation.

What does the Jeep Avenger share with the Jeep Cherokee?

The Jeep Avenger is the brand’s smallest SUV, and it’s not available in America. However, it still has plenty of clues about what to expect with the upcoming Jeep Cherokee.

For example, it gives drivers the freedom of choice. Stellantis has been pushing to provide more electric SUVs, so critics expected the Avenger to be exclusive with an electric powertrain.

But it actually has a gas-powered engine and two hybrid options. Plus, the Avenger 4xe is a plug-in hybrid. The gas-powered engine cranks out 100 hp, and the 4xe generates 145 hp. So, these are a bit underpowered for Americans.

However, this shows us that Stellantis is being serious about providing the next-generation Jeep Cherokee with multiple powertrain options. Meanwhile, the Jeep Recon and new Renegade are expected to be fully electric.

According to Jeep, we won’t have to wait much longer for the new Cherokee to arrive. It’s on schedule to debut in late 2025 or early 2026. A fully electric variant will arrive later.

It will return with a boxy shape. Since it was discontinued in 2023, it has been reimagined from the ground up. Also, the new Cherokee slots between the Compass and Grand Cherokee as a middle child.

Information about pricing and specs hasn’t been released yet. However, Stellantis will start leaving a trail of breadcrumbs for us any day now.
