Creator Jack Doherty told injured passenger to ‘keep recording’ after he crashed a $200K McLaren
YouTubers and content creators constantly jockey to stay in the public eye. Often, that means outlandish stunts and undertakings to keep viewers locked in. That’s precisely what Jack Doherty does– he performs stunts and tricks on YouTube and other social media platforms. One of his latest farces involved a crashed McLaren supercar and an injured passenger. A passenger he told to “keep recording.”
Content creator Jack Doherty prompted his injured friend to ‘film’ after he crashed his McLaren 570S
A rear-wheel drive twin-turbocharged V8 supercar with 562 horsepower on tap isn’t in its element in the rain. It’s much happier dry, hot, sticky pavement. Add distracted driving to wet conditions and you’ve got a recipe for disaster. In a viral video, YouTuber and streamer Jack Doherty combined an unhinged McLaren 570S with a distracting livestream and rain-soaked streets.
As you might imagine, the young driver crashed the McLaren in front of hundreds of thousands of viewers. Worst yet, his foolish maneuver injured his passenger. Of course, for a creator like Doherty, the show must go on. Right?
In one clip, Doherty told his passenger, Michael, to keep recording. Viewers can hear Doherty prompt his injured friend with another smartphone “Michael, do you have your—film on that one, too.”
According to PCGamer, Doherty seemed remorseful in posts following the wreck. “I’m so sorry Michael for putting you thru that. Thank you to all the first responders and everyone who helped us get out of the car. This could’ve been so much worse and it’s a huge learning lesson.”
Lesson or not, Doherty’s friend sustained injuries, his McLaren is toast, and the comment sections seem less-than-thrilled with the influencer’s behavior. One commenter responded with “The totaled McLaren is a good representation of Doherty’s career ending.” Another viewer commented about Doherty prioritizing his “content” over his “blood-covered” friend.
Unfortunately, social media footage seems to show that Michael sustained a head wound. Additionally, it’s unclear whether the inexperienced driver will receive any legal consequences following the crash. After all, handling a smartphone while driving is illegal. It doesn’t matter whether it’s for livestreaming purposes or sending a text. Check out the young creator’s video below!
