‘An Early Holiday’ Inmates Order Crab, Steaks, and Marijuana Delivered by Drone
Some very enterprising inmates attempted to have a feast of groceries dropped inside Lee Correctional Institution in South Carolina — by drone. In the early morning, a drone flew over the facility and dropped quite the grocery run.
The SCDC took to social media to explain, “Seems some folks were planning an early holiday Old Bay crab boil and steak dinner along with their marijuana and cigarettes — all dropped by a drone at Lee CI.”
I have so many questions. I assume an inmate had a friend on the outside attempt the drop with a regular civilian drone. Even in the early morning, how did an aircraft fly directly over the facility?
There’s a slight chance it came from one of the increasingly popular drone delivery services. Honestly, the contraband looks hastily wrapped. What’s more, Bishopville, South Carolina, doesn’t appear to have any drone delivery services. Those are mostly limited to urban areas.
But this may be an issue prisons have to sort out soon. Meanwhile, something tells me the Bishopville prison guards will be eating well.
