There is an exciting update in the works for the Hyundai Tucson. One massive problem holds it back from competing against the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. Despite outranking rivals in terms of comfort, performance, and value, it doesn’t sell as well. But that could change.

Critics often rank the Hyundai Tucson ahead of more popular rivals such as the Mazda CX-5, Toyota RAV4, and Honda CR-V. It’s viewed as having a superior ride quickly, more comfortable, and offering tons of value.
Plus, it starts at a lower price than competitors. But for some reason, drivers aren’t taking advantage of it. This is subjective, but it’s because of its face. The design simply isn’t for everyone.
Kelley Blue Book and other outlets show drivers consider its exterior styling as a negative feature. Hyundai may have missed the mark on its controversial futuristic design, but it still delivers a phenomenal SUV to consider.
But things are about to change. The next-generation model is getting an updated face that’s inspired by the Hyundai Crater concept. It’s a rugged-looking SUV.
You could also compare the new style to the current Kia Sportage design. Sleek LED headlights frame the large, squared-off bumper. Of course, the interior will get modern and advanced treatments as well. It’s safe to expect larger screens.
Best of all, this could indicate that the Tucson is being transformed into more of an adventurer. Perhaps it’s taking a swing at the Subaru Crosstrek as the RAV4 backs off rugged trim levels.
The redesigned model is expected to debut for the 2027 model year. Expect more clues and teaser images to emerge soon.
