“Your Wallet Will Be Hurting” – Supercharged Dodge V8 Owner Shows Reality of Owning a Speed Demon
Social media users who tout their vehicles as an integral part of their personality is nothing new. There’s no shortage of Tesla users who capitalize on the intrigue folks have regarding electric vehicles who engage in this practice. And on the flip side, there are also influencers who cruise around in speedy gas guzzlers who do the same thing. Like TikTok user @srtjslo who uploads clips about his Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170.
While his page sports a number of videos that highlight the good times he has driving his car, there are others that delineate a massive downside. And it’s one that presents a stark reality into what it takes to keep a pavement-eating speed demon gassed up.
In a recent clip, the Mopar commuter films himself at a Sunoco gas station. At the onset of the video, he can be seen finishing a fill up. @Srtjslo is shown tightening the gas cap at the back of his car before he cracks open the driver’s side door and gets inside. Following this, he begins to drive away but only gets a few feet before he parks his car in front of another pump at the same Sunoco station. The close out the video, he’s seen getting out of the car and reaching for yet another pump handle.

The hyperbolic humor detailing fuel consumption costs for his ride is further driven home with a text overlay. “POV: you drive a supercharged V8,” @srtjslo writes in his clip. Moreover, his caption reads: “I wish I was lying.”
Additionally, this isn’t the only time the TikToker’s opined about the fuel expenditures associated with his vehicle. In another TikTok video uploaded on September 4th, 2025, he gives a closer look at what a typical fill-up costs for his whip. The clip begins with him holding up a pair of keys to the camera as he sits inside the Demon. “I’m at the gas station right now. We’re gonna see how much it costs to fill up my Demon 170,” he tells viewers.

Afterwards, the video transitions to him at a gas pump. The Demon Challenger 170 purportedly outputs its best performance when running on E85 rated fuel. However, it reportedly runs well on 93 octane as well, which is what @srtjslo can be seen selecting in the above-embedded clip. “93 right now is only $3.49, so we’re about to see how much this costs,” he says while placing the pump in his car. While his car gets gassed up, he showcases some of aesthetic mods he appended to the exterior of his vehicle.
He Fills Up His Demon Constantly
A few seconds later, he tells viewers that he heard the thunk of the pump handle sound off. Which prompts him to walk up to the fuel pump and see what his total damage was. Its screen reads that for just over 16 gallons of 93 octane gasoline, he was charged $56.30. He didn’t seem too perturbed by this figure. “It’s not bad, I’m not gonna lie. People probably think it’s way more expensive to fill up the fastest production car in the world. But, it’s not that bad,” he tells viewers.
Although, he does undercut this brief moment of praise by knocking the Challenger Demon 170’s fuel economy. “The thing that is pretty bad is that you’ll have to be putting those $56 dollars in like every time you drive this car bro.” Following this, he records the dash cluster of his vehicle. The TikToker has navigated to an information screen detailing the average miles per gallon he gets. And the figure is so low, its wont to make even large SUV drivers cringe.
According to the dash display, he’s only getting around 6.9 miles per gallon of driving. At that rate, he’s getting less that 112 miles of road travel for the $56 he just spent. With the remaining fuel in his tank, his vehicle reads that he’s got 132 miles of commuting.
“But hey man it’s worth it for that supercharger,” he says after his video cuts to footage of his popped open trunk. He gives the car some gas, showing off the loud whining noise the supercharger makes upon hitting its accelerator.
25 mpg on a Demon?
While this MPG is very low, it’s worth mentioning that folks interested in purchasing a Demon 170 aren’t thinking about mileage. It’s not like the same consumer base looking at the Toyota Prius are also placing Dodge SRT performance vehicles on their shopping lists. With that being said, independent testing from other influencers reveal some surprising finds about the Demon 170’s fuel figures.
HotCars reported on one YouTuber who demonstrated that driving style makes all the difference when it comes to its mileage. While commuting conservatively, he was able to attain 8 miles more per gallon than its EPA-rated range of 17 mpg. However, once he began opening the Demon 170 up, its mpg was drastically reduced to 4.7mpg. Not quantified, however, was his smiles per gallon. As he was grinning from ear to ear while pushing the Demon’s capabilities.
So if you’ve got a lead foot, be prepared for fuel-up experiences akin to the ones @srtjslo showcased in his clip.
