“Hi, how are you?” the wife and mom asks her grocery delivery driver as she opens the front door of her home. After (very) briefly exchanging pleasantries, though, the resident gets serious. “I’m coming to protect you because I have a moose getting ready to walk around right here.”

Wait, a moose?

The driver seems confused at first and hesitant to move. The customer, though, hurriedly ushers the delivery driver into the house. “Come on in, come on in…”

As soon as the driver’s inside the front entryway, the resident pans her camera across the porch. Sure enough, there’s a huge moose now hovering over the porch.

“Girl, I’m trying to get my groceries delivered!” the homeowner calls out to “Helga,” a local moose.

Strangely, the towering mammal encounter isn’t all that unusual to @akborealisgirl, who posted the video on TikTok. They’re in Alaska, after all.

Alaskan moose are the largest relative of the deer family. At the shoulder, males can reach heights up to seven glowering feet. Again, that’s not even including their neck, head, or antlers.

As such, most moose stand a couple of feet higher than the average car…and several feet taller than the average delivery driver.

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, both human and moose populations prefer similar environments near lakes, rivers, and streams. As such, the locals often find themselves neighbors with the tall mammals. The department warns folks to give moose plenty of space…but what if the animal doesn’t give a resident the same courtesy? Well, they’ll get a finger wag, apparently.

akborealisgirl shared the TikTok earlier this year. The video has 15.6 million views.
