There has been quite a bit of Cybertruck news since the truck hit the market. Of course, many love the Tesla pickup, but it hasn’t been without its notable issues. Sadly, this includes the tragic fires involving the truck from last year. Now, one Cybertruck owner is sharing his story of being banned from using an EV home charger by his HOA.

Having access to an EV home charger makes driving the Tesla pickup easier

The Tesla Cybertruck is perhaps the most controversial pickup in recent memory. According to Torque News, Brad Poirier recently shared his experience with the stainless steel vehicle. However, his story is related to using a home EV charger in the common area in his neighborhood. Sadly, he says that his HOA has banned him from doing this and called the Tesla pickup a fire risk.

For context, Brad does have a designated home EV charger to use. However, his post in a Cybertruck Facebook group says that the Tesla pickup is too large to fit into his garage, which is why he was using a charger in a common area. It’s also important to note that a neighbor reported him to the HOA for using what he calls a common area to charge the massive vehicle.

Of course, having access to a home EV charger is important. It’s not required, but it does mean you’re not tethered to public chargers. However, it’s also necessary to note that part of the issue with charging in the common area is that it’s shared electricity. This means other people in the neighborhood are paying for him to charge his Tesla pickup all night. Of course, this part of the story makes many people less sympathetic to Brad.

Naturally, most vehicles don’t have this problem with being able to use a home EV charger. This is because they can typically fit into garages, making them easier to charge. For this reason, people buying Tesla Cybertrucks must be more diligent before buying. For example, do you have a structure large enough to store it? Can you reasonably charge it in your neighborhood? Still, for many, the Tesla Cybertruck is worth it.
