Texas felon leads police chase in box truck and cuts wrists

Police officers in Houston, Texas, initiated a traffic stop after seeing a box truck blow through toll booths without paying the fee.  Pursuing officers pulled the suspect over on the Sam Houston tollway.

According to KHOU, officers learned that the man was wanted for several felony warrants, including a recent theft. As they went to arrest him, he suddenly took off, leading a police chase.

The suspect ended up boxed in at an apartment complex on Trail Hollow Drive. The driver rammed several police cars in an attempt to get free. One officer was stranded beside his car when it was almost pushed on top of him.

He fired multiple shots at the box truck, but the suspect was never hit. The suspect hit other cars and crashed into fences, getting the truck stuck. Then he ran on foot.

Later, someone ran to the cops, claiming a man had broken into his apartment. They found the suspect inside after he used a kitchen knife to slit his wrists.

The suspect and three officers were taken to the hospital. Everyone is doing just fine now, except for the suspect with an extensive criminal history. He might have to spend some time behind bars.

There is an ongoing investigation into the string of wild events and why one officer fired five shots at the suspect. Also, it’s unclear what was in the back of the box truck.
