It’s not every day that a car thief takes a stab at kidnapping. However, that’s exactly what one thief did when they stole a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. It wasn’t the driver that the thief absconded with, either. It was two babies, each under six months of age. Fortunately, a good Samaritan found the two small children after the thief discarded them in the cold.

A good Samaritan rescued two babies from the Indiana cold after a car thief left them on the side of the road

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) jumped into action earlier this week at reports of a kidnapping and car theft. A car thief had stolen a silver 2013 Hyundai Sonata in broad daylight. More worryingly, though, the car hosted two little girls, a four-month-old and a five-month-old, at the time of the daring crime.

According to Fox 59, it didn’t take long for the police to release an image of the stolen Hyundai. Of course, any kidnapping is a high-stress and scary situation. However, it’s worse when police locate the stolen car but don’t find the children or the car thief. Fortunately, a good Samaritan in another part of the city called the authorities with some good news.

Police officers responded to an emergency call from a do-gooder on the southeast side of Indianapolis. The good Samaritan told authorities they had saved the two small children from the cold and taken them to a nearby home. Fortunately, the authorities reported that the babies were safe after receiving medical attention.

On the other hand, the police weren’t able to identify a suspect in the car theft and kidnapping. Still, even without a suspect, the kids are lucky to be alive. Low temperatures in Indianapolis this week are well under 20 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s not exactly survivable for two small babies.
